Living Word

“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving...” Psalm 26:7

Vol. 21, No. 6   June   2012

Luk 1:37  “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”

Do we really believe this?  There are so many bad reports or reports that don’t tell the truth that it is becoming more difficult to believe that God can do something for us.  We succumb to defeat at every little whim that tries to bring us down.

I have to repent to the Lord often because day after day I get bad reports that make it seem impossible that something good can come out of it.  Then…Glory…God does the impossible.  Did I pray that God would do something?  Did I believe that God would do something?  Yes, I did; but I just couldn’t see it coming to pass because of the constant barrage of defeats.

I am so glad that my God is in control.  He really does rule and reign in righteousness.  And He comes through when it is necessary.

Oh, Lord, help us to believe You more.  Nothing is too difficult for You!  I repent for not believing in You more than I do.  I am encouraged once again in Your faithfulness.  And I praise Your Name.

In Christ,

The Lie

Joh 8:43-44 (KJV)  “Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.  (44)  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

People today cannot hear or understand Jesus because they are living a lie. According to Rev.12 the rebellious angels are coming to the earth. They will no longer be able to hide in the heavenlies.  These are not demons that are already here.  The Bible does not tell us where demons come from.  They just seem to appear in the Bible.  If we were to guess, we might say they are spirits of departed people who gave way to the lust and violence and evil side of life.  When they passed into the spirit realm they became deformed and are now irritating the life out of those who would live godly, and they desire to make everyone else like themselves. As murder, lust and perversion have increased, they have produced more of these types of spirits that harass and hinder the things of God.  These deformed spirits happen as a result of those who live their life as a lie!  They will not come to the truth about God. Instead, they live for themselves and all that they want in life. [Again, this can’t be proven scripturally. But there are writings from spiritual leaders that seem to agree with this understanding.]

When these angels of Revelation 12 come down, they are not human.  They will come to the nations of people and induce a fear that is unprecedented. This is why God is testing us today with faith. This is why we must hear and understand the Lord and His Word. If our faith is not steadfast and sure, we will be vulnerable to deception and fear like never before.  The fear we deal with today is nothing (fear of not being able to pay for our utilities or fear of our children not serving the Lord).  These fears are minor compared to what will come.

Let us recall the 23rd Psalm:  “He sets a table before me in the presence of my enemies.”  We do not have to fear Satan and all the wicked angels.  The reason the Lord sets a table in the midst of evil is to show His disdain for them. He tells us they cannot touch the anointed ones.  He lets them know who is truly in charge. We are not to respond to threats.  If you live a life totally dependent on the Lord, you will be fine no matter what happens. But today, you have to deal with your fears that hold you back and keep you from giving your all to the Lord. DON'T LOSE YOUR FAITH, DON’T BECOME FEARFUL, AND DON’T TURN FROM THE LORD. Stay strong; and even as the Lord sets a table before you right in the middle of hell, you will be fed and find delight.

In order to come to this absolute assurance we are going to have to overcome the lies of the enemy. There are four aspects of overcoming the lies of Satan.

1.       The Person of God – who He is.  He is not a kindly old gentleman.  He is God who demands allegiance, honor, integrity, and a faith that will stand every obstacle.

2.       God’s will – to be made into the image of Christ and bring us into union with Him so we are at rest in Him at all times.  All we have to do is desire it and ask Him for it at all times.  This goal has been destroyed in America.

3.       God’s ways – the ways in which God works Mic 6:8 (KJV)  He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? This verse describes God’s ways.  This is all that is necessary to please God.  The goal has been botched up to make us think all we need to do is get saved and go to heaven.  That is because we don’t know God and who He is; neither do we know His ways and what He requires.

4.       God’s purpose – it is more than living and dying.  Mankind is very busy inventing things that have never even been thought of before and that have no eternal purpose.  But man still cannot comprehend the things God has in store for him.  Man is trying to figure out where all this creation came from.  But the Bible declares it Psa 19:1  “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork.”  Scientists don’t declare the glory of God.  His creation does.  We are part of that creation and we will declare the glory of God.  The world will see it and repent and thus fulfill the purposes of God.

Something is required today in order to overcome the LIE that encircles us. There have not been enough Christians who have overcome Satan and the lies to give Michael the strength that is needed to throw these evil angels out of heaven. Until there are, we will be weighed down with oppressions, depressions, and darkness. Every time we make the effort to overcome, we are hastening the time when “the father of lies” is cast down.

Why would we want this?  Why take the risk? Because we are told (Rev.12) that this is the beginning of salvation and the Kingdom of God.  When you do not search out truth for yourself and just take in every lie that is continually going forth, you cannot overcome.  Only truth makes you free. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life who takes us to the Father.  Satan is the father of lies who takes us away from the Father.  Do you sense being closer to the Lord today than you have ever been?  If you do not, then you are believing a lie.  If you do, then you are going in the right direction of truth.  [See, you don’t have to be deceived.  You are judged based on what you have the ability to find for yourself.  If you could have known by searching, you can’t use the excuse “I didn’t know”.]

If Satan can keep you in the lie, it will produce death – spiritual death.

The basis of all conflicts of life is the struggle between God who is Truth and Satan who is a liar.  When you discover truth you are filled with life abundant. You will enjoy life.  You find satisfaction in living, and you are fulfilled with purpose and destiny.

We moan and groan about how terrible things are becoming and wish God would do something about it all.  But God is waiting on His people to rise up with truth, overcome the darkness, and be the light and glory of the nations. You drive Satan out of his place in the heavens when you take your rightful place in the heavens at the right hand of God in Christ.  As you desire Him, as you seek Him, you will find Him when you search for Him with all your heart. Then you will discover you have been given a throne in heaven and the enemy is kicked off your throne.  But if he can convince you of a lie, he gets his throne back, and you come under his influence of darkness and deception.

How do I keep myself in truth?  Rev.14:4 tells us we follow the Lamb wherever He goes.  This is the highest form of obedience to God. And the reward is redemption in the first resurrection.

Where are you being led today?

Are you believing a lie?

Are you under the darkness or on the throne of glory where you can live your life to the fullest?

You have to tell the Lord you want to live in truth and allow every lie to be exposed.  This is what life is all about.  That is what makes us the light of the world.  Follow the Lamb wherever He goes; do the will of God; discover the ways of God by doing justice, loving mercy and walking humbly with Him. Declare the glory of God in your life and know the person of God by giving Him all the worship and praise that is due His name.

I am going to be sharing with you thoughts from my journal over the past few years. This is to show you how the Lord has brought about His Word in my life to minister to you and to show you how real this walk can be. Please read and understand by the Spirit about ...

. . . My calling as a pastor

Pastor’s Journal 2011

Jun. 4:  I love you, Lord.  My love for You is everything.  I rejoice all the day for who You are and what You do.  There is much suffering in our day, but Your love is much stronger than the difficulty.  I cry out for Your mercy and You are gracious.  I am continually amazed at Your kindness and concern for us.  Help us to know and understand the things that are happening today so we don’t lose hope and turn away from our faith in You.  We need You more than anything this life has for us.  I keep you first in all of my ways.  Thy will be done.  AMEN!

Jun. 6:  Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His faithful love endures forever.  I called to the Lord in distress; the Lord answered me.  The Lord is for me; I will not be afraid.  The Lord is my strength and my song.  There are shouts of joy and victory in the tents of the righteous.  The Lord’s right hand strikes with power.  I will live and proclaim what the Lord has done.  I will give thanks to You because You have answered me and have become my salvation.  This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.  Lord save us!  Lord, please grant us success.  You are My God, and I will give you thanks.  Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His faithful love endures forever.  (from Psm 118)

Jun. 9:  Lift up your hands in the holy place and praise the Lord.  May the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth, bless you from ZION.  (Psm 134)

Jun. 11:  My love for You, Jesus Christ, is most important to me – in my quiet place, in all my work, and in my daily life.

Jun. 13:  You will keep in perfect peace the mind that is dependent on You, for it is trusting in You.

Jun. 16:  Do not fear nor be afraid.  I am in control.

Jun. 17:  The more we let ourselves be guided by the Holy Spirit, the more we will live according to God’s will.  Unless you kneel daily to receive strength from the Holy Spirit, you cannot grow in His love.  A life of prayer makes His love a reality.

Jun. 18:  Sometimes our prayers are difficult because God is trying to strengthen our faith.  Believe there is a greater blessing in the delayed answer to prayer.  Keep reminding God of His promises, and power will be released.

Jun. 26:  Let God arise, and watch His enemies scatter.  Let the righteous be glad and rejoice before God and celebrate with joy.  Day after day He bears our burdens.  Surely God will crush our enemies.

Jun. 28:  I did not say “NO!”  If it is not in faith, then it is sin.

Jun. 29:  May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.  (Rom 16:13)

Rom 8:14-18 (KJV)  “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.  (15)  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.  (16)  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:  (17)  And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.  (18) For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”

There are many people who say they believe in God, and in Jesus Christ His Son, but who don’t walk in the witness and the leading of His Holy Spirit. Although all of the scriptures support the Spirit-led relationship with God, not many people are willing to press into it.  Sometimes the hindrance is because the person has not yet been born again.

Joh 3:3-6 (KJV)  “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.  (4)  Nicodemus saith unto him, how can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?  (5)  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  (6) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”

Even the people who are born again must be willing to put away the lustful nature of the flesh and give up their old ways so that the Holy Spirit can speak into their lives.  Those changes happen through relationship with Jesus Christ. Whoever will listen to His voice and obey the unction’s of the Lord by His Spirit to their born again spirit will experience constant spiritual growth.

Mat 26:41 (KJV)  “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

The flesh and the old nature, which are always rising up and trying to have their way, are most noticeable when we just continue to do that which comes naturally to us. So we must press into the new life that Christ died to give us by His death, burial, and resurrection.  That new life is not some pie in the sky when we die; it is a living, loving relationship with the One who created us and gave His all to keep us.

Rom 8:5-8 (KJV)  “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  (6)  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  (7)  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  (8) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.”

We should not just throw in the towel if we find ourselves not being pleasing to God; but, rather, we should pray and get back into the good fight of faith.  Remember:  FAILURE IS NOT FINAL - Unless you are dead!  But since we are still alive we can ask for forgiveness for anytime we may have grieved the Holy Spirit, and we can ask God to restore our sensitivity to His Spirit. Then we must act immediately in faith when we sense His inner witness and directions.

I have seen people who have been Christians for years but have never before pressed into following the leading of the Holy Spirit; but once they begin to be Spirit-directed in their walk, they start to see the Lord working in their lives like never before. As others take notice, they, too, are blessed as well.. God knew we would need help, and that is why He gave us His Holy Spirit.  So walk with Him and experience a life you could never have imagined.

"I am convinced that many evangelicals are not truly and soundly converted. Among the evangelicals it is entirely possible to come into membership, to ooze in by osmosis, to leak through the cells of the church and never know what it means to be born of the Spirit and washed in the blood. A great deal that passes for the deeper life is nothing more or less than basic Christianity. There is nothing deeper about it, and it is where we should have been from the start. We should have been happy, joyous, victorious Christians walking in the Holy Spirit and not fulfilling the lusts of the flesh. Instead we have been chasing each other around the perpetual mountain.

What we need is what the old Methodists called a sound conversion.

There is a difference between conversion and a sound conversion.

People who have never been soundly converted do not have the Spirit to enlighten them. When they read the Sermon on the Mount or the teaching passages of the epistles that tell them how to live or the doctrinal passages that tell how they can live, they are unaffected. The Spirit who wrote them is not witnessing in their hearts because they have not been born of the Spirit. That often happens."
