“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving...” Psalm 26:7

Vol. 15, No. 12 December 2006

So many may say, “I’ve done all I know to do! I don’t know what to do! How much longer, Lord! Why is it so hard?” On and on it goes trying to guess what God is up to and why nothing is working. The answer is simple, yet complex. IT IS ALL ABOUT GOD! Everything we think or feel or experience is all about God. He doesn’t have to tell us one thing. We just rest in Him by trusting Him in all things. Don’t fret about today or tomorrow, just let Him be Lord of all.

We have thought that He was Lord until this new day. Some are still trying to live out of the old way of carnal Christianity and it doesn’t work. Our agendas are being crushed – our ways are being parted – our thoughts have got to go. Jesus is becoming Lord of the universe and we have to wait our turn because we are not forgotten or ignored. This plan is much too big for any of us. The time will come when all of this will be made plain. Don’t listen to the false prophets who prophesy out of their flesh promises that never come to pass. The day of guessing with God is over. Just wait on the Lord and He will do what He wants without your approval. False words have destroyed so many. But there is a clarity that is taking place with those who know it is all about God.

The holidays are upon us once again. This can be a joyous time for you if you will but rejoice in the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living and keep following the King of kings and the Lord of lords. It’s a new day that is going to prove to be the grandest ever.

In Christ,

Pr. Steve

When praying, don’t give God instructions—just report for duty.

Biblical Separation (2 Timothy 2:21)

In a fallen world, all disciples experience times of separation to become sanctified. We are commanded in Corinthians to “be ye separate” (6:17). If we do not adhere to this command, the consequences are severe. To compromise with people is to offend God. So to please God, we must at times detach ourselves from people.

Full spiritual maturity is to walk with God and to know Him. Very few in history have followed this consistency to learn to walk with God because to walk with Him is to walk apart from others who do not walk with Him. Unity with God means separation from everyone who is not united with Him. The Bible says, “Two cannot walk together unless they are in agreement” (Amos 3:3).

So we cannot walk faithfully with Jesus and at the same time walk closely with those who are unfaithful to Him. The thought of separating ourselves from unsaved sinners is understandable because a little leaven leavens the whole thing. But what about separation from other Christians?

There are two types of Christians in the church – the committed and the uncommitted. In our portion of text they are identified as “honorable & dishonorable” (2 Tim 2:20). In this passage the “great house” is the church, or the current manifestation of the kingdom of God. The vessels of “gold and silver” are spiritual Christians who are of great value to God and are reserved for honorable use. Vessels of “wood and of earth” are carnal Christians who are not fit according to scripture for honorable use and are called dishonorable.

This is not to condemn anyone. The Word of God is infallible. In order to be a vessel of honor, one must be fully sanctified (made holy), or separated unto God (vs. 19). For one to be sanctified we are told we must “depart from iniquity” [moral wrongs of character]. You must separate yourself from anything that keeps you from Christ’s character regardless if others claim Christianity or not. Paul is talking about the Church. Do not build close relationships with carnal Christians. If we do separate ourselves from vessels of dishonor, we will go on to full sanctification and honor (vs. 21).

There are Christians who profess faith in the Lord without currently possessing it. They walk contrary to the Word of Truth even though they have been taught. They carry offenses. They are faithless in practice and obedience. They are worldly-minded. Their goals are not Christ-centered and eternal. They serve themselves and not Christ. They do not submit to the authority of God or those in leadership because they have reasoned within themselves their way is acceptable.

We are called to be yoked to Jesus (Matt. 11:28-30). We are commanded “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers…” (2 Cor 6:14) [unbeliever = one who continues to disbelieve what the Word teaches.]

Both Lot and Abraham were right with God (2 Pet 2:7-8). In their day they walked by faith, but both were not equally committed. Abraham set his heart to continue to walk in the Light, but Lot did not. So eventually Abraham reached the point where he could no longer remain close to Lot (Gen 13). WHY? Because Lot longed for prosperity and prominence among the people. Abraham longed for the glory of God. Lot was consumed with temporal pleasures. Abraham longed for a city whose builder and maker is God (Heb 11:10). So one day they departed company and never again were reunited. The outcome – Lot spent the remainder of his life alone. Abraham spent his days walking with God.

Jesus warns us to count the cost of discipleship. Make sure you are ready to finish what you start. Some this past year gave up, separations have come, but we are still here. WILL WE CONTINUE ON? The day of the Lord is at hand. There are many days of uncertainty and unpleasantness ahead. WILL WE CONTINUE ON?

You will have to make decisions of an unpleasant nature to have the fullness of Christ. This world is faced with two choices: separation or judgment. If we refuse Biblical separation, we will never know the fullness of the Spirit and His power.

Hosea 6:3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD…”

While you count the cost and you find yourself being separated, you will become one with Him and He will pour out special blessings to accompany your walk.

Because Abraham chose the way of the Lord and he separated from the carnal Lot, look what God did for Him: (Gen 13:14-17).

Is it easy to count the cost and separate from the familiar? No, but God is faithful. REMEMBER: Separation leads to full sanctification. And the sanctified have special influence with God. Because of Abraham’s dedication, Lot was delivered from total judgment. If we live separated lives, our prayers will cause God to give life to many, even those we have had to leave by the wayside as we follow Christ.

1 John 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.”

Separation is not isolation. God always gives us in return, more than we give up. The Lord is calling us into a greater relationship with Him – intimacy, to know Him. The separation is necessary for the fellowship. The Lord’s separation is truly a uniting of spirit to spirit.

And remember - many separations are temporary so that God can make out of you what He can use for His glory so others may find Christ. Who knows what will happen to former friends and family if we remain faithful to the call.

2Ti 2:21 “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, [and] prepared unto every good work.”

I am going to be sharing with you thoughts from my journal over the past few years. This is to show you how the Lord has brought about His Word in my life to minister to you and to show you how real this walk can be. Please read and understand by the Spirit about ...

. . . My calling as a pastor

Pastor’s Journal 2005

Dec. 3: Spiritual maturity is where a believer trusts in the witness of the Spirit in the inner man more than his natural senses. Become a listener!

Dec. 5: “Your level of authority has been increased. While others increase in anointing or giftings, I have increased you with spiritual authority against wickedness and in the power of My name to be used for deliverance.”

Dec. 6: “My promises will be fulfilled in you, all the way back from the start of what I said I will do. Greater works shall you accomplish, but it will antagonize people because it will not be done to satisfy them. It will be done by My Spirit alone. You will be faithful. You do walk in faithfulness and you live by faith in the Son of God.”

Dec. 15: He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High. We abide in Christ Jesus on the throne of Glory in heavenly places. We shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Oh Lord, all I want to see is You, above all this world has to offer.

Dec. 17: Vision of two streams of water coming down the mountain of the Lord and merging at the bottom. This is the place of sweet fellowship with the Lord, but He is adding something with it. “Except the Lord build the house our labor is in vain” (Psm. 127:1).

Dec. 19: Perfect peace have they whose mind is stayed on Thee. (Isa. 26:3)

Dec. 20: “I have taught thee in the way of wisdom, I have led thee in the right paths.”

Dec. 22: “I have shown you this year My rest. You have experienced it and walked in it. Don’t lose it by fretting or frustration. I have said this coming year will be fulfillment. Remember My rest and all that you experience will be glorious without sorrow or regret.”

Dec. 23: “You will see and behold the beauty of My Holiness in this lifetime.”

Dec. 26: Your Father which sees you in secret will reward you openly. Fruitfulness!

Dec. 27: A peace that surpasses all your thoughts.

Dec. 29: “You stand as a Sentry to My Kingdom. You defend the righteousness and those who would follow Me. You keep sin out so that My purity might be seen and known. You are a support for those in need and those who are troubled. My authority, approval, anointing and acceptance are upon you, and you will lead many to My Kingdom.

Dec. 31: Reasoning of the mind destroys belief (Luke 5:17-22).

Fire Baptism part 2 of 3

To be in God’s presence is to be in the presence of absolute holiness where no sin or unrighteousness can stand. To be in the presence of God is to have the overwhelming sense of one’s uncleanness and the overwhelming desire to be clean (see Isa. 6:16).

Isa 6:1-5 (KJV) "In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. 4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts."

God is able to judge and destroy the sin and purify the repentant sinner. The Holy Spirit is the gift Jesus gave His disciples (John 20:22) and is the presence of God at work in the life of the believer and in the world.

John 20:21-23 (KJV) "Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:”

Most stop here; but the sentence is incomplete:

23 “Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained."

This is the baptism of fire, the recognition of sin, the conviction of the Holy Spirit.

The presence of God’s Spirit brings the overwhelming sense of one’s uncleanness and the overwhelming desire to be clean.

The statement “He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire,” means that Jesus had and has the ability to immerse (baptize) people in the presence of God so that they are aware of their sin and their need to be cleansed of that sin.

What sin are we talking about? We have heard in the past about repentance; but what if we can't repent? We must recognize sin.

How many have the conviction of the Holy Spirit? How many have that conviction over all sin in their lives? Have we become hardened? The baptism of fire brings back that recognition.

If we stop speaking in tongues, the language dries up. It is the same with the fire. It must be renewed daily.

How can we intercede if we are not baptized with fire? We must recognize sin. We must hate what God hates.

It is the war against sin. It starts with our own lives, then goes out into the world.

To be continued…

The Power To Please God

Heb 11:1 (KJV) “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

The old cliché “It is hard to teach an old dog a new trick” is often found to be true as people grow into what they think they know to be certain, instead of growing by walking with God. But for Christians, as well as unbelievers, the need for change soon becomes evident when the old way of doing something no longer brings the expected results. To keep trying to accomplish something a certain way without success is ludicrous, but those who invoke God by faith and seek to walk by His Spirit can hope for the understanding to make the changes and to gain the power to come into them. God never changes, but we are continually being changed more and more into His image. Those changes are not usually automatic, neither are they usually easy. More times than not we must reach the end of our own strength before we can receive His. The carnal, or natural way of thinking, is blind to the spiritual understanding that can be received only by the born again part of a Christian. Therefore, we can see that our natural way of doing things must be abandoned, and a setting of our focus upon the instruction of the Lord is our only hope.

Rom 8:5-8 (KJV) (5) For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. (6) For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (7) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. (8) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.”

Are we trying to please God? It is easy to inadvertently set our hope upon ourselves when we seek to follow God by the letter of the law. The “Do this,” “Don’t do that” mentality can lead to a judgmental attitude toward ourselves and towards others. Even if we follow the law with total success, we could still be lacking the element most needed: that is love. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, not God so judged the world that He gave His only begotten Son. Those who have received Christ have received the love and the Spirit of God. If we have received such a great gift, we should be glad to reciprocate with giving to enhance that new relationship. Being a Christian is more relationship than it is following rules. The beauty of this adventure is found when we stop trying to perform and choose rather to be motivated by the desire to know and love God more each day. Perhaps we don’t know how to do that. But we do know that His word says that if we humble ourselves and seek Him, He will reveal to us the wisdom and understanding, and the power to make it happen.

Heb 11:5-6 (KJV) “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. (6) But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Living Word Christian Fellowship

“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving...” Psalm 26:7

Vol. 15, No. 11 November 2006

This month Living Word celebrates 20 years of ministry in Richmond, Indiana. God was so faithful to us as we began in our home, then moved to Yokefellow Conference Center at Earlham College. God then moved us to 2000 West Main and now with 3 building additions completed, we reside at 1990 West Main. His vision for us as a teaching and training center continues to grow with the latest addition for Richmond Academy. We are all very grateful for God’s vision and provision and for the love and support of all those in this fellowship and all the friends and family from around the world. We love you and appreciate you each one. We look forward to the next 20 years and all that God will lead us into as we continue to draw unto Him and His ways.

Dear Family of God:

Proverbs 14:30 “A tranquil heart is life to the body.”

How do I get one? “Life is full of disappointments and despair. Everything bothers me from the way of the world to the way of the church. I can’t find peace any longer. There is so much pain and hurt.”

This seems to be the picture I get from many believers today (and non-believers as well). There is one reason – They are not letting Christ rule their hearts and minds. Difficulties should make us stronger in the Lord. It builds our faith to rely and trust Him more than before. If you are just too weary continually, stop relying on your own abilities and strengths and wisdom and understanding because that is not wise.

Pride often keeps us out of the godliness of living. “If I don’t do something, nothing will ever change.” Change is inevitable. But change with the wrong motive or spirit is destructive and often causes us more grief than if we would have just waited.

One reason the Lord is asking us to simply wait on Him is so we will hear what He is saying. When we hear we will be strengthened and edified to believe that He will do what He says.

Eze 12:25 “For I [am] the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord GOD.”

We are in the time when God’s Word will come to pass for His Church and all involved in His purposes. But you need to hear to believe and in believing you will prosper eternally. And guess what? It won’t be hard at all, just a blessing of life that you waited for so long. Hallelujah.

In Christ,

Pr. Steve

Servants Will Serve

Rev 22:3 “And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:”

There is only one true way to serve the Lord – know Him! When we get to know Him, service becomes a delight and pleasure. Christ was born to serve His Father’s will. Though He was God’s Son, He made Himself His servant. We, too, were born to serve; through gratitude, we are saying I owe the Lord even though I can never repay what He has done for me.

The reason you were delivered from darkness was to serve the Lord. “And His servants will serve him.”

When God told Pharaoh to let His people go, it was “that they may serve me.” (6 times). In God’s mind deliverance and service go together.

DELIVERANCE is threefold: To serve the Lord - Not to serve ourselves - To be faithful servers

Isa 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD [is] upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to [them that are] bound;”

As Christ is, so are we in the world. We have His nature and the Holy Spirit so that we might set captives free in His name and power. But people are not being delivered because we are not delivered. Only free men can deliver others. In order to press into Christ we must lay aside the weight that hinders us. Our thinking, speech and behavior must line up with Jesus Christ; otherwise, we are servants of Satan. Wherever sin resides we are servants to it:

Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?”

We must be delivered from all forms of spiritual immaturity. Babes can’t conquer the enemies of the Lord. If we harbor timidity and fear, we will flee instead of fight the Lord’s battles. If we indulge in rebellious activity and refuse hardness as good soldiers of Jesus, we will not be fit for His army. Selfishness only serves itself. Worldliness is so we can serve ourselves.

Demas is mentioned in scripture as a fellow worker with Paul (2 Tim.4:10). The contrast that Paul is sharing is that Demas cared more about the things of the world than the things of the Kingdom of God. Commentaries tell us because Paul was not popular, Demas left him to find more excitement and Paul says, “this is dishonorable,” even producing apostasy. Further historical writings say it was “money” Demas was after so he got in a dispute and left Paul. As long as our thoughts are filled with envy and strife, we are yet carnal (1 Cor.3:3). And carnal Christians cannot teach others to walk in the Spirit, neither can they know how to serve the Lord.

Christ’s servants must be free from oppressors and hindrances to serve the Lord (Luke 1:74-75).

The first reason we are delivered is to serve the Lord. Second, we are delivered so as not to serve ourselves.

(Phil 3:7-12) The Lord delivers us from the control of sin, immaturity, hindrances and oppressions that we might give our all to Him. There are multitudes of examples in the Bible of being delivered in order to serve the Lord. In each case, those who were delivered sought not what God could do for them, but what they could do for God.

Today salvation is different. Many receive the Lord so He may help them do their own will in life. As with the deception of humanism, they believe Christianity to be a higher kind of self-realization in which to choose their own walk in life. Discipleship always asks to give up our own plans for the ones we are to serve. But today, Christians misuse their liberty for an occasion to serve the flesh (Gal.5:13).

The true gospel teaches that the Savior is not come to assist us; we are to assist Him.

John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.”

Our prayers must always be, “Lord what do You want me to do.” (Act.9:6)

The third reason for deliverance is “To be faithful servers.”

(Daniel 6:16) It was the faithfulness of Daniel that brought forth his deliverance. He served God continually and was delivered. Over and over again God brings forth His faithful servants. “God holds a special place for those who serve Him continually. Because they never fail to serve Him, He never fails to save them.” Faithful servants demonstrate the principle of giving. Because they give, it is given to them. Wherever they go, God stands with them, ready to rescue them in whatever they may go through.

God’s reason has not changed. He still delivers his people that they may serve Him. We must continue to allow the Holy Spirit to cleanse us and purify our souls, to establish and mature us so that we may do his will without reservation.

MEDITATE OF THIS: “Your God, whom you serve continually, he will deliver you.”

Col.3:23 -24 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”

Serve the Lord diligently, in season and out of season (2 Tim. 4:2), when you see results and when you don’t; when you are popular and when you are despised, when you are weak or when you are strong – CARRY ON. Let nothing and no one keep you from fulfilling your service to the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

Believe that your service will be noticed and blessed by the Lord of the harvest: Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have showed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”

As you believe, so shall it be done unto you. Everyone who sows in tears, shall reap in joy, and that includes you!

“AND HIS SERVANTS SHALL SERVE HIM!”

Fire Baptism

Was hell prepared for men? NO. Hell was prepared for the devil and his angels.

But this is God's only designed place for punishment. He didn't make a place for man and he won't. He only made one place, and that is for the devil and his angels. Men may choose to spend eternity in that place of fire, or they may allow the cleansing of God’s holy fire while they are here on earth.

God hates sin. He promises to burn all his enemies. He promises never to flood the earth again, but promises that the earth will be consumed by fire.

2 Pet 3:7-10 (KJV) "But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

We must choose our destinies now: fire now, or fire later.

Mat 3:11 (KJV) “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost [1], and with fire [2]:”

Fire is one of the physical manifestations of God’s presence.

Fire is symbolized as: instrument of His power, a sign of His holiness, and as an illustration His anger against sin. These are all experienced when in his presence. We find these illustrated several times in the Bible: The making of the covenant with Abraham (Gen. 15:17), the appearance in the burning bush (Ex. 3:2),

God leading the Israelites by a pillar of fire by night (Ex. 13:2122; 14:24; Num. 9:1516; 14:14; etc.),

His appearance on Mount Sinai (Ex. 19:18; 24:17; Deut. 4:1136; 5:426; etc.), and others (1 Kings 18:24, 38; 1 Chron. 21:26; 2 Chron. 7:1, 3).

Fire was used symbolically in Israel’s worship to represent God’s constant presence with Israel (Lev. 6:1213).

Lev 6:12,13 (KJV) "And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon[1] the fat of the peace offerings. 13 The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar[2]; it shall never go out."

God’s presence as fire represented both judgment and purification (pur: the words purify and purge come from the Greek word for fire). God’s baptism of fire is our only source of purification.

Like There is no Tomorrow

Watching the news these days is like going to see a science fiction thriller. This world that we live in is full of people that seem to go crazier every day. People everywhere, including some that call themselves Christians, are living their lives like there is no tomorrow. This is truly a sign that we are closer to the end of this age than what we have previously thought. Everywhere people are suing each other over ridiculous situations. People are killing other people without even having a reason. Random acts of hatred, along with the breaking of every commandment in the Bible, would make one wonder if this nation has not already been totally turned over to evil. The bottom line seems to date back to the garden, when Adam and Eve took the opportunity to do evil instead of good. That determination to do our own will, while overriding the will of God, has been the downfall of every generation since the beginning, but its outrageous increase is definitely a sign that the end is near.

Ti 3:1-5 (KJV) “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”

Perhaps that type of behavior should be expected of those who have not made a statement of faith in Christ, and have not been born again, but how is it that professing Christians are exhibiting these same characteristics? It has to be just as the scriptures say it is when people love pleasure more than they love God and wish only to proclaim godliness rather than live it. A large part of that type of living stems from the deception that is being preached which says you are forgiven no matter how you live. The truth is that a person is saved as he follows the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who have been born again know that they can only serve one master.

Jdg 17:6 (KJV) “In those days [there was] no king in Israel, [but] every man did [that which was] right in his own eyes.”

When people do what is right in their own eyes, it is because they do not want anyone else to tell them what to do. This independent spirit is called pride and rebellion. The only cure is to humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord, take up our crosses, and follow the King of kings and the Lord of lords. He is the only one who knows how to lead us into righteousness. We must believe that it is crucial in these last days to follow the Lord closely and turn from evil, or we could be part of the great falling away spoken of in the scriptures. We will never have a better life by living outside of Gods will. We must consider how close we are to the end and choose to live for the King because tomorrow could be for eternity.

Jer 29:11 (KJV) “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

OCTOBER NEWSLETTER 2006

Living Word Christian Fellowship

“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving...” Psalm 26:7

Vol. 15, No. 10 October 2006

We are in a time when communications are under great scrutiny. I first heard this early in the summer from the Lord. It seemed like everything that I said was misinterpreted or completely ignored. It was frustrating as is always the truth when you are wanting someone to hear you. But God kept telling me the body of Christ was going to experience this to a great degree because they won’t listen to Him.

I believe the church can hear the Lord like never before. We have learned how to distinguish His voice from the others; but we don’t want to heed what He is saying, so our communications are becoming blocked. Our ears are being stopped up because what the Lord says to our hearts is being ignored.

About 10 years ago we began to hear and understand about multi-tasking:i.e. doing more than one thing at a time. Well, I have been doing that for many years. I think it is one of the characteristics of leadership. When people began multitasking without proper knowledge of how to comprehend or gather information, confusion resulted. The errors and mistakes which followed continue to affect us all. Many are now on overload because of not being properly heard. The ensuing frustration has brought some to the point of shutdown or explosion. But God hears us and He wants to clarify and give us results.

The key is to come back to the voice of God. Take the time to listen to Him even if it is too hard to hear through the confusion that comes from the mouth of people. Don’t allow the confusion to take you over because:

1Co 14:33 “For God is not [the author] of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”

In Christ,

The Future Is Now

Exo 3:13-14 “And Moses said unto God, Behold, [when] I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What [is] his name? what shall I say unto them? (14) And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.”

Why do we worry about the future? All we need to do is grow in Christ, remembering that He is the “I AM” – the “Eternal Present.” Christ always is what God Is. God and Christ are what They are right now.

He wants each of us to be a part of Himself, of what He always is. He desires for us to continue to grow until it can be said of us we are fully with Him where He is. Then the future will take care of itself.

If we are to be kept from the mundane, and temporary, we must be listening moment-by-moment to what the Lord is saying, presenting each decision to Him for His will and blessing. We must strive to be a part of what He is.

In John 8:58 Jesus did not say, “before Abraham was born I was.” He said, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” In John 14:3 He said, “that you also may be where I am,” not “where I will be.” Jesus is speaking in present tense so that we will not be concerned about the future, but that we will learn to think of God and Christ in the now. Jesus is talking about oneness with the Father – complete unity in the “I AM”.

Mat 28:20 “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world.” Amen.

always = wholly now. If we spend too much time worrying about coming from or going to heaven (which is our hope to be with the Lord), we may miss what Christ is doing today in our life to bring us into oneness with Him and the Father.

“All there is, is now.” If we spend too much time on the future we will neglect the Lord in every detail of our lives now. Any point in the future is always the now, the present, when we get there. In worrying about the future we are trying to establish the future – then we are filled with disappointments and frustrations because it doesn’t happen the way we expected. We literally create emergencies in our lives because of what we expect the future to be. {Yes, we are at times to consider the future to make sure we are headed in the right direction.} The reason the world is passing us by so fast is that we are living for the future instead of the now.

Christ is always the “I AM,” not the “I will be.” Christ desires that we be with Him where He is, not where He will be - always = wholly now.

If Christ is always with us and we are with Him, then the future is now. The Lord wants us to enter into a timeless relationship. He wants each of us to be with Him where He is. He desires that we grow in Him until it can be said we are wholly with Him in what He is and where He is. Then the future will take care of itself.

Do you worry about the future? Ask yourself – Right now, this very moment is there anything I can’t do that I know I should do?] Then why worry? Christ is the I AM. What is the problem?

Isa 26:3 “Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee.”

Right now, this very moment, there is no problem. “All that there is, is now.” Much of the pain we suffer comes from our anticipation of the future. The Lord wants you to know the meaning of “I AM.” Christ wants to be our life now. He wants to be expressed through us. This is oneness – not so we can have more power or be more successful, or to get what we want. God wants total union because He is love. That love is our life. Divine love in union is not the means to some religious end. It is the end.

Listen carefully to Rev. 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

The Lord never stops knocking. He always wants to dine with us. When we join Him, we are eating His flesh and drinking His blood. But what does He eat and drink? (Song of Solomon 5:1) myrrh = bitter/sweet honeycomb = forest (Revelation 10:9-10) He eats the sweet word of life in you. He is looking for every part of your personality and being to be filled with Him – possibly only through surrender.

Heb 13:5 “[Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

I can spend time speculating about what the future holds. Or I can keep looking to Jesus, making sure that at this very moment I am living in His presence, expressing His will in the earth. While I remain in Christ Jesus, doing exactly what I know He desires, I am indestructible. He is health to my soul; He is energy to my being; He is wisdom to my mind.

“Lord, I want to be a part of the I AM right now, I want to live by your life. All there is, is now, and there is no problem. When later comes it will be now. You are with me at all times.”

To what level of union are you being brought? To be precisely what He is. Can you imagine the battle our carnal nature has to relinquish in its rights to be this and to get there?

When we are seeking to be filled with Christ, to dwell in Christ, at any moment, He is there. It is not a case of you seeking to be part of God. It is God seeking to be part of man. Every aspect of salvation originates in God. We cannot run after Him except He draws us. No person comes to Jesus unless the Father draws Him. No individual takes this honor upon himself except he is called of God.

He has created us to be His shining glory. We are to be the image of God, the expression of God in His creation. How marvelous. Yet we resist, and ignore. Christ in God is calling us to Himself. “Come be a part of Me, this is why you were created. Cease from your own works and enter into My rest.”

The result is a conscientious decision to follow the great I Am to come into untroubled rest in the Father through Jesus Christ, being made one with Them, we dwelling in Them and They in us.

Oct. 4: You truly did so much over this weekend. I am overwhelmed by Your faithfulness and grace with mercy. I just love to see Your Spirit minister to others. Please make it lasting so that each of us may be all You have called us to be. Thank You for such awesome glory and love. May we serve You with a heart of gratitude continually.

Oct. 9: “This new year that is upon you is a year of Jubilee for you. Many things I have spoken to you will come to pass. Your faithfulness is seen and acknowledged of My Father. I have yoked you to Myself and the blessing is with You for My Kingdom.”

Oct. 10: O Lord, we wait. In silence we wait on You. Quickly revive us in mercy and show us Your power. We wait, O Lord.

Oct. 11: “You are strong enough for the fight. I am fighting for you and you will not turn back but will defend your brothers in the day of gloom and despair. It is My strength that is building. Keep faith in the forefront of the battle.”

Oct. 13: The harassment has been at an all time high. Oppression is all around, but My God shall prevail. He is good. I would have fainted if it had not been for the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. He rules as Supreme. No enemy can come near and defeat the anointed of the Lord.

Oct. 14: “Keep yourself pure. Do not turn to the lustful things of the world. Do not look upon the nakedness of another and I will keep you healthy and whole. I want you for Myself.”

Oct. 17: No matter what I want, what I long for or what desires I have, all must be You alone, Your way. I surrender through the Holy Spirit that I might be pleasing unto You, my Lord.

Oct. 20: For His merciful kindness is great toward us and the truth of the Lord endures forever.

Oct. 24: “My people have been ravished by the enemy, but it has made them stronger in Me. I will turn their captivity and ravish them with My love and blessing. Yes, they will know My spirit like never before. They have truly experienced change and the transition has brought them higher and higher in Me. I have raised the bar; otherwise, they would have remained incomplete in their understanding. Now, with greater wisdom My church shall be seen and heard.”

Oct. 25: “True discipleship is following Me until you know Me. Once you know Me you will never turn back. There is no sacrifice in the truth of becoming a Christian. The sacrifice is in becoming a disciple. You have come to a higher dimension in discipleship, a higher realm of glory. There is a transfer taking place that will soften the blows of this life because they no longer matter. This is My Glory filling your inner being until the fullness manifests.”

Oct. 27: “You say you are empty and barren, weak and without life. I say you are full and fruitful, strong and filled with abundant life. You are raised higher than ever before. It is new and different. I am revealing the way of life and there will be much to rejoice in, so be glad even now that I have accomplished so much with you.”

Oct 28: “I don’t want your money. I don’t want your offerings. I want you, My Son. You are the precious life that I have saved. You are the reason I paid so great a price. In these days a greater influence will come forth from you. Watch and keep yourself in Me. Do not offend others in manners or words because the influence is increasing so that others might know of Me and My Glory.”

As Unto the Lord

We are living in very different times. It has been said in the past, and quoted even recently that; “we are living in the best of times and the worst of times.” But there is never any time wasted that is spent as unto the Lord. Whether rich or poor, happy or distressed, imprisoned or free; those who will humble themselves and seek His face and turn from there wicked ways always find the Lord faithful. The best is yet to come for any and all who will take God at His word and follow Him without giving up. Life for the Christians who walk closely with God is not a bed of thornless roses. It has been and always will be filled with beauty and ashes, rejoicing and suffering, good times as well as difficulties; but through it all we can grow closer to God than we could ever imagine or accomplish by our own efforts.

1Sa 13:5-6 (KJV) “(5) And the Philistines gathered themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which [is] on the sea shore in multitude: and they came up, and pitched in Michmash, eastward from Bethaven. (6) When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.”

Today we would basically have the same two choices that Israel had: Fight or Flee. But we would not want to do either without consulting the Lord. God’s word says that we can ask of Him, and He will lead us. He will give us victory over our enemies. He will cause us to know and understand His ways, if we will only seek His face and turn from our own ways. In the Old Testament, King David made some serious mistakes, but there were always good results when he did what was right in seeking the Lord.

1Sa 30:6 & 8 (KJV) (6) And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. (8) And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake [them], and without fail recover [all].”

We must always focus upon the Lord during the good times as well as the bad times. Focusing on problems and blaming other people for them will always lead to distress in our hearts. The battles belong to the Lord and we will always emerge victorious if we can stay in the Lord through them. Don’t quit! Don’t let your heart be troubled! Take everything before Him, and encourage yourself in the Lord because of Who He Is!

Here are two more good reasons to live by giving it all unto the Lord:

Deu 31:6 (KJV) (6) Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he [it is] that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”

Heb 13:5-6 (KJV) (5) …He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (6) So that we may boldly say, The Lord [is] my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”

Wholeness - part 3 of 3

3. Whole means to grow (maturity)

Matt. 14:35 through Matt. 14:36 (KJV) 35And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased; 36And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

Matt. 12:9 through Matt. 12:13 (KJV) 9And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue: 10And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. 11And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? 12How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. 13Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

Dysfunctional families

Children are not whole because of issues. Failure to teach phonics and the multiplications tables hinders learning. Children have friends who hate their parents because fear and abuse pervade their homes. A husband who fears his employer may come home and fight with his wife. Children who fear their parents fight with the dog, and the dog retaliates by tearing up the house. And so the cycle continues.

Matt. 15:29 through Matt. 15:32 (KJV) 29And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there. 30And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them: 31Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel. 32Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat…”

Those who cannot see spiritually, hear, walk, or speak spiritually are those that need to be made whole The feast of the Lord comes to us when we grow up.

4. Whole means to cure, mend (binding and loosing)
Matt. 15:21 through Matt. 15:28 (KJV)
21Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. 22And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. 23But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 25Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. 26But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs. 27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table. 28Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

Addictions must go to the Cross: - Needs met: 1. repentance, 2. cleansed, 3. wholeness

Tribulations worketh every good work – wholeness, completeness

Rom. 5:3 through Rom. 5:5 (KJV) 3And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Altar call: Deal with shame and receive hope.

Is there sin in your life? Make an altar and pray grace. If you are dealing with a consequence, come to the altar and pray mercy. If you are cleansed, come and stand and receive wholeness. Receive hope.
