“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving...” Psalm 26:7

Vol. 16, No. 12 December 2007

Every time I think I am doing well, I get slugged by the enemy. But I am determined to fight on and press into the glorious image of Christ. I know what He is and what He wants is worth more than any battle I will ever experience.
Once again we are in the holidays and we can make it what we want. Don’t be discouraged because you don’t have what others have or can’t do what everyone else can do. Rejoice that you are alive and the Lord is your Savior. He is in control of your life. If you will acknowledge Him in where you currently are, you might find how good things really are in the Lord.
I hear the bad news every day. It is very depressive. But as soon as I get my mind on the Lord I find favor and goodness flowing from the throne of God.
We are warned of these days and are not to take them lightly. Take heed to what you know to be true and keep focused on the Lord Jesus Christ. Anything else will bring you down to despair. Our glorious hope is in the fullness of time that is taking place. That is the fullness of Christ coming to maturity in His Bride. Let all your senses be trained to recognize His working power in you and to know the changes that are taking place are more wonderful than previously imagined.
Heb 5:14 “But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
Today the body must have meat in order to sustain these days of difficulty. And with the Lord’s direction and help, it shall take place.
Look where you have already come from. Not too bad if you think about it.

In Christ,

Pr. Steve

The House Is Being Established

Mic 4:1 (KJV) “But in the last days it shall come to pass, [that] the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.”
Gen 5:24 “And Enoch walked with God: and he [was] not; for God took him.”
To have an ever-increasing awareness of the presence of God is to walk with Him. The glory of His presence is when the heart burns, the soul becomes fascinated with holiness, and a sense of His nearness fills our thinking.
God created us for one purpose – to experience Him.
Psalm 46:1 tells us that God is an ever-present help in trouble. Yet in Psalm 27:4 David desires to behold the beauty of the Lord (in the midst of trouble).
I do not want to put seeking a spiritual experience above seeking the Lord Himself. I believe there is just a longing that God has placed upon His people that has not been there previously. We are looking for a “heart-to-heart relationship with God which goes beyond anything we have ever experienced.”
In Solomon’s day, God’s glory came to the temple. In our day, God’s glory is coming to His temple, which we are.
Today the temple is “being fitly framed together.” According to 1 Pet. 2:5 we are called living stones that are being build into a spiritual house. This spiritual house is going to be filled with the glory of God. And the time is fast approaching when individuals who have found relationship with the Lord will become a corporate expression to God so His glory can be revealed.
To see the people of God as a holy temple in which He manifests His glory causes me to recognize my responsibility to my brothers and sisters. It keeps me focused so my attitudes and actions will make me the kind of stone that can be “fitly framed” into His temple. For until we are built together, we will not satisfy God’s requirement for His manifested presence.
Micah tells us the day is coming when the house of the Lord will be established in the top of the mountains. I believe it is possible this day has begun.
· Established = fitted or framed
· Top = to the head
· Mountain = to loom (appear as a light)
Solomon’s temple was destroyed because of the sin of Israel. After a period of time it was permitted to be rebuilt under Zerubbabel. Ezra shows us that once the foundation was finished, opposition came against them. It took two prophets, Haggai & Zechariah to keep Zerubbabel encouraged to finish the task. Haggai is the one who gives us the prophecy:
Hag 2:9 “The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.”
I want you to notice, there was no opposition from the enemy when the foundation was being laid. It was only when the enemy saw them joining “stone to stone” that the enemy became angry. We have a country that has churches built with the foundation of the Kingdom of God with relatively little opposition. But where they are trying to build upon that foundation all hell is breaking loose.
Foundations are times when people reflect upon themselves, while stone laying is when we reflect on others. When a stone is being laid next to another stone – that is building relationships – that is reflecting the beauty of Christ. [Little notice is made with one stone, but add to it, and the building begins to take shape and gets noticed.]
But this is where our enemy begins to attack. He highlights people’s faults, exposes their behavior and produces conflicts with each other. We begin to think it is too difficult and exasperating to bear others’ idiosyncrasies. After awhile, we say “I don’t need this” and we take our stone out of the building. {Well, without your stone, the building is put on hold until a replacement can be found.} (Does this make sense?)
Hag 1:2 (KJV) “Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD'S house should be built.”
Well, when is the time? To oppose the building of the temple is to oppose God. And to oppose God is to disobey. And to disobey is to withdraw the manifested presence of God. Today we have many foundational churches without the presence of God in them. THE POWER OF GOD IS RELEASED WHEN WE OBEY GOD’S VOICE. An atomic reaction takes place until multitudes are affected.
Rom 5:19 (KJV) “For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”
For others to follow, requires only one person’s obedience, for it is obedience that releases the grace of God to bring many to Jesus.
Hag 1:4-5 (KJV) “[Is it] time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house [lie] waste? (5) Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.”
Consider your ways! It is truly right to put your own needs and concerns above others? Is it truly right for you to give up when the going gets tough? We have to stay tough until the process is complete. It is more enjoyable to back away and fulfill our lives with family, fun, and festivity. It is hard work to cultivate relationships that are lasting.
We have to keep building until:
Eph 4:13 (KJV) “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:”
The house that is being built is the relationships we are developing at the local level of the church. God has called us to be faithful to the building. When He sees we mean business, the glory of His presence will be revealed.
Psa 133:1-3 “Behold, how good and how pleasant [it is] for brethren to dwell together in unity! for there the LORD commanded the blessing, [even] life for evermore.”
That life is the presence of God Almighty. Eph.4:3 tells us that unity is a bond of peace. IF I REALLY WANT TO EXPERIENCE THE GLORY OF HIS PRESENCE, THEN I MUST ALLOW THE MASTER BUILDER TO FIT ME INTO HIS TEMPLE, even if it costs me my comfort.
The evil of our day has caused us to withdraw from people. We must not become casualties of this war. Allow God to build a relationship through you.
Hag 1:6 (KJV) “Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages [to put it] into a bag with holes.”
When we don’t have enough, we don’t give proper attention to the temple of God – we don’t allow the Holy Spirit to fit us together for the glory of God. Instead, we will go around in dissatisfaction and disappointment.
Hag 1:7-11 (KJV) “Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. (8) Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD. (9) Ye looked for much, and, lo, [it came] to little; and when ye brought [it] home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that [is] waste, and ye run every man unto his own house. (10) Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed [from] her fruit. (11) And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon [that] which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.”
These people did not give up until the opposition became too great. Yet, God still rebukes them sternly. Why? Because He saw they were missing their destiny. DO WE TRULY WANT TO SEE THE MANIFESTED GLORY OF GOD IN OUR DAY?
What can we do to get the process finished?
When Solomon had the temple built, he gave instructions that no cutting, shaping and polishing of the stones would take place at the temple site. All that took place at the quarry. Only after this was completed was the stone permitted to go up the mountain to be fitted together. ARE WE ALLOWING GOD TO CUT, SHAPE & POLISH US WHERE WE ARE? Until we do, when we try to fit we are going to rub someone the wrong way. It is difficult to fit together when the world sees division, schism and competition.
To be rightly fitted means to be refined in the fires of testing so we are not left to ourselves. Every unique edge must be chiseled and polished so we can fit. Being rightly fitted means we must die to our personal preferences and allow room for God to show Himself to us.
We must remain humble as God sets us in His place of purpose. You may be the first row of stones placed on the foundation – that might make you feel pretty important. But how will you feel when all the others stones are placed around you and you won’t be noticed. That means you must give up your rights – all jealousy and envy just to be what God wants. IF WE LOVE HIM AS WE SAY, THEN WE WILL ACCEPT WHAT HE DOES WITH US.
Remember we have no say in where we are placed. We simply must maintain the faith that the Master Builder knows exactly how to perfect the building of the Temple.
When we allow this to happen, we are then closest to the heart of the Father. When we embrace His Work, His Way, then we discover the depth of His presence.
Mic 4:2 (KJV) “And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.”
Once we are fitted and joined to the head, then we will appear as a light to others who will then come and be taught to walk in the Kingdom of God from everlasting to everlasting.

I am going to be sharing with you thoughts from my journal over the past few years. This is to show you how the Lord has brought about His Word in my life to minister to you and to show you how real this walk can be. Please read and understand by the Spirit about ...

. . . My calling as a pastor

Pastor’s Journal 2006
Dec. 1: I thank You for a peace that far exceeds what the world offers. In the midst of sickness and pain You are the God of comfort and purity. I live in it and I live by it. There is no other way. Glory is in Christ. Victory is by following the way of the cross and finding my rest in You. I am eternally blessed and I am receiving the goodness of the Lord.
Dec. 2: “With every setback it has pushed you closer to Me. Nothing has been lost. My favor is upon you to bring about My will for Living Word. Do not be weary, the victory and fulfillment will come.”
Dec. 4: “Do not allow feelings, thoughts or words to defeat you. The battle is to monitor the victory. If you give in to the darkness, you will experience defeat, but I say, ‘Victory is yours already.’”
Dec. 6: The steps of a righteous man are ordered by God.
Dec. 11: “Do not allow discouragement to lead you. Let hope lead. Do not allow anger to lead you. Let love lead. Do not allow confusion to lead you; let peace prevail. That is when you clearly know and understand Me and My direction for your life.”
Dec. 18: “Walk in peace. Perfect peace have they whose mind is stayed on the Lord. Don’t allow the thoughts to defeat you; but stay in My perfect peace, knowing that I deliver those who seek My face.”
Dec. 19: “There is coming a move of My Spirit that will cost everyone who is a part of it. Don’t be swayed by the counterfeit that will offer you everything freely. My way is the way of suffering.”
Dec. 25: “Do not be shaken or troubled in your mind that the day of the Lord is at hand until there be a great falling away. You are following My direction. Remember, you are in warfare. Whether you fight or not, the battle still goes on; but if you fight, there you will experience victory and blessing because My hand is directing you.”
Dec. 26: Life is fragile, love is strong.
Dec. 28: “For you never to stumble or fall, you must continually be adding and increasing in faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, endurance, godliness, brotherly affection and love. Do not allow anything to distract you from pressing into those things so that the pressures of the world will not over take you.”
Dec. 29: “Come let us reason together, saith the Lord. Let us settle once and for all the matters that hinder your progress so you can move forward!”
Dec. 30: Remember – Courage – Courage- Courage. It will bring you through every situation!

The Great Escape

Most of the times during the Christmas season people think about what they might receive. This Christmas we can think about the things we have already received, but from which we may not be getting the full benefit.
2 Peter 1:2-11 (KJV) “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, (3) According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that [pertain] unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: (4) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (5) And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; (6) And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; (7) And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. (8) For if these things be in you, and abound, they make [you that ye shall] neither [be] barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (9) But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. (10) Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: (11) For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”
All who have been born again have received a wealth of Gods’ precious promises, and are now able to partake of His divine nature. Wow! Those are some awesome privileges, and they have been given to us for an awesome purpose: “That through them we may escape the corruption that is in the world through lust.” We all need to set as precedence in our hearts that our purpose in life is to accomplish the things we are called by God to do. Sometimes people get drawn back into the old corrupt ways they walked in before they were born again then find themselves in worst condition than before.
Genesis 19:17 (KJV) “And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.”
That account in Genesis 19 is about Lot and his family being told to flee from Sodom because it was going to be destroyed. The warning was given: “Look not behind thee, escape for thy life.” To escape means to flee, shun and be secure from danger; to avoid an evil. The Lord had clearly declared it a life and death situation. But Lot’s wife just could not resist looking back, and so she was instantly transformed into a pillar of salt. Though Lot did not look back, he did, however, ask God if he could go to a different town instead of proceeding up the mountain. Lot’s example does not give us license, but it does set a precedence of the possibility of seeking the Lord about the situations instead of just turning to sin. Ultimately, the situations we endure are designed to deliver us from evil and to strengthen us in our relationship with Christ.
Psalms 141:8-10 (KJV) “But mine eyes [are] unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute. (9) Keep me from the snares [which] they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity. (10) Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.”
We can cry out to the Lord and He will hear us! That crying out is a form of praying to the Lord. People sometimes think that they don’t know how to pray or what to pray about, but the truth is that we all need to entreat the Lord for wisdom to avoid the snares and pitfalls of the enemy. Prayer is not about what we feel, it is all about the matter of life and death. He who consistently chooses life escapes death.
1 Corinthians 10:12-15 (KJV) “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. (13) There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it]. (14) Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. (15) I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.”
We are tempted, and our faith is tried in many ways every day. Therefore we can understand our need for a living way of escape. We must not take God for granted. We must constantly seek the Lord our God through prayer and through His word, both spoken and written. This quest is a major part of our relationship with God. The direction, protection and wisdom that we receive as we seek Him are all part of His precious promises for us.
Luke 21:33-36 (KJV) “Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. (34) And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and [so] that day come upon you unawares. (35) For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. (36) Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”

NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER 2007

Living Word Christian Fellowship

“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving...” Psalm 26:7

Vol. 16, No. 11 November 2007

The cry of our hearts in this hour is for His Presence and His Glory. Why is this so important? Is it absolutely essential if we are to survive the days that are coming: 1Ch 16:27 “Glory and honour [are] in his presence; strength and gladness [are] in his place.”
If we are to experience this to a greater degree, then we must be prepared by dealing with our fleshly endeavors. For the Word tells us 1Co 1:29 that no flesh should glory in his presence.
I believe the Lord wants so much to reveal Himself, but He is waiting on us to become prepared. Without a spirit of repentance His presence won’t last. All that God is doing in this time is to mature us by getting to know Him and His ways. We have sought Him so long for our ways, but now they don’t work because He wants us to know Him and His ways. This is the glory that will be revealed. And once it comes, you will not want to turn back. If you are not prepared, perhaps you won’t want it. But I do and I know it is upon us. Every time I seek His face there is a fresh awareness of who He is and what He is doing. So let’s get in there and praise and worship and behold the glory of the Lord!
Jud 1:24 “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present [you] faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,”

In Christ,

Pr. Steve

Forgetting What Lies Behind

Philippians 3:13-14 (KJV) “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
The farther we go in the Lord the more we let go of the past. As we forget what is behind us, we are able to press on toward the goal to win the prize. What is the prize? THE FULLNESS OF ETERNAL LIFE!
Philippians 3:20-21 (KJV) “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.” Most Christians believe when the Lord comes they will receive a body like His. What we don’t understand is that such a change in our body will take place only as we have sought to be changed in the image of Christ in the same manner as Paul did.
The standard of Christianity in America is far below the biblical standard of a vast comprehensive spiritual awakening which must take place if this generation of believers is not going to be lost. We are not going to please the Lord until we take up our cross and seek the Lord in prayer for strength and wisdom so we can keep His commands.
Eternal life is not the same as eternal existence. Eternal life is the incorruptible Life of God. How much of it we attain depends on our willingness to be changed and follow Christ instead of having to do things the way we feel is best. Salvation is not a plan to move us, but to change us so we are acceptable to God wherever we are.
Daniel 12 tells us:
· Some will rise to everlasting life
· Some will rise to shame and everlasting contempt
· Some will rise to incredible glory
ALL OF THESE ARE A STATE OF BEING, NOT A PLACE TO LIVE!
When the Apostle Paul speaks of the believer who continues to walk after the flesh, he never speaks about heaven or hell, but rather about the consequences of living by the flesh (Gal & Rom).
Ephesians 4:1 tells us we must be found worthy of eternal life and the Kingdom of God. Romans 13:11 tells us salvation will come in the future. In other words, the fullness that we are striving for is out there to reach for daily.
We now have a deposit on eternal life. We have been sealed by the Lord until the day of redemption comes. The day of redemption is the time when our body is adopted by the Lord. Our body will be made alive by the power of Christ (Eph.4:30).
This is more than being born-again. In order to receive the fullness of life in our resurrected body, we must press toward the goal every day of our discipleship. Even Paul said he had not attained, but he kept pressing toward the mark. To grieve the Holy Spirit is to presume. The revival of the 90’s is dead. The revival of today is a time of “repentance.” We must repent for all the presumption we have had as we serve the Lord while thinking He will do what we expect. Repentance must be sustained if revival is going to affect our spiritual growth. Note: “Mercy does not permit presumption.”
In order to attain to the resurrection of the body, we must first attain the inward resurrection by turning away from the world and becoming a living sacrifice. The inward resurrection is attained as we continue to confess our sins and transgressions through the Spirit of God to put them to death. It is attained as we suffer in our prison of circumstances that the Lord permits. Remember, God is not going to place a perfect, resurrected body onto a sinful, disobedient inward nature -- not by grace, and not by mercy, nor any other means.
We are not saved by works alone. But we are saved by works that cause us to follow Christ diligently every day. True faith is always expressed in the right kind of works, which is the diligent pursuit of Christ every day of our discipleship. Apart from obedient faith, there is no genuine faith, only a mental assent about Christ Jesus.
We receive Christ at a point in life; we are born-again of the Spirit of God; we begin to turn away from worldliness; we pursue eternal life. If we don’t follow on, we cannot be transformed into Christ’s image that God is looking for; and there is no lasting fruit, and we are removed from the vine which is Christ. Then we have no hope of gaining immortality. We have sown to the flesh, and we will reap the consequences.
A doctor may be able to save us from a premature death. But if we do not do what He says, we will not receive our healing. Faith ALONE in what the doctor says is not sufficient. Jesus Christ can save us from spiritual death; but only as we DO what He says. Merely believing is not enough – YOU MUST PUT BELIEF INTO PRACTICE. In order to gain the prize, we must run the race according to the rules.
1 Peter 1:5 (KJV) “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
We are now at the last of time as we know it. The Lord is revealing to us the requirements to survive and LIVE. He is preparing us for the unexpected of which we will emerge.
(Rom. 8:23-24) Many are groaning and travailing – there is a shaking going on inside – ASK ANY SPIRITUALLY-MINDED PERSON. What we are hearing in our spirit-man is “the Blessed Hope.” Faith is the assurance of things hoped for. The righteous are tuning up their faith because they believe and hear the coming of the Lord.
At one time we were a living soul. Now we are being made into a life-giving spirit, not a living spirit, but a life-giving spirit [quickening](1 Cor.15:45). We must overcome our fierce desire to maintain our own identity apart from oneness with God through Christ. WHEN WE BECOME AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, WE ALSO BECOME A TREE OF LIFE, A SOURCE OF LIFE TO OTHER PEOPLE. The more of Christ we gain, the more we must give to those who are dying. All of our suffering is so the FULLNESS OF SALVATION CAN BE IMPARTED TO US.
Eternal life is a gift only in the sense that God has made it possible for us to attain life. The initial portion of God’s life when we are born-again enables us to gain more and more and more life, until our inward nature is filled with the fullness of God’s life. WE MUST LAY HOLD OF ETERNAL LIFE.
It is not what happens to us that determines the quality of our life. It is how we interpret what happens to us that counts. Life doesn’t just happen – it comes through our mindset of what we believe.
Philippians 3:8-9 says that “that I may win Christ, …through the faith of Christ unto the righteousness that is of God by faith.” It is not a part-time endeavor to be saved. It is a life sold out to God in every detail.
Pressing into the fullness of God is a struggle, a battle all the way, but don’t lose sight that total victory is attainable if we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. COMPLETE ATTENTION, PATIENCE, DILIGENCE, AND PERSEVERENCE - all the way to the end.
We can make a difference and live the fullest of life for the Kingdom by doing what some are doing, attempting to take the things of Christ to a “lost and dying world.” OR, we can follow Christ and gain the power of His resurrection and many will see and believe and be filled with all the fulness of Christ by what He is saying to us today. Only those who are willing to wait on the Lord will continually renew their strength. When you wait on the Lord, you will worship. Without worship there is no spiritual renewal. These are the ones becoming a part of His Glory. They are not working for Him, they are moving with Him to bring life.
Question: ARE YOU GAINING ETERNAL LIFE OR WALKING IN THE FLESH?
· Are you anxious about decisions, or can you calmly wait with the Lord?
· Are you easily shaken when pressure strikes, or do you call upon the name of the Lord?
· Do you have to have your way, or can you let go and let God have His way?
· Do you need to know now, or can you wait for the Lord to tell you
What is your flesh telling you, and what is the Spirit saying to you?
The goal is before us: forgetting what lies behind, we reach for the fullness of life lived in and by the Spirit of God – spirit, soul, and body. We set aside every hindrance to pursue His life. No tongue can describe the incomprehensible authority, power and joy that have been set aside for our inheritance. 2Tim 4:7-8 (KJV) “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”

Nov. 2: “You are honored and blest by Me. My heart is touched by your love for Me. I see the desire and enjoyment that you have in serving Me. You are in My perfect will and that is why you enjoy Me so much. The body can also enjoy Me as I fulfill their calling. Desires are satisfied and fears melt away because I am fulfilling My plan for My church.”
Nov. 6: I am overwhelmed and in awe at the love of Your people. Their kindness has superseded anything I could ever ask or desire. I believe it is a genuine picture of their love for You. I offer all their gifts up to You as an offering of gratitude for You have shown so much kindness to Your servants. Thank you O Lord!
Nov. 7: Righteousness will produce peace and the outcome will be quiet confidence.
Nov. 11: When I look for You, O Lord, all I can do is come into Your presence and look up. I am waiting for You. Then You showed me Psm. 123, “I lift my eyes to the one enthroned in heaven. My eyes are on the Lord our God until He shows us favor!” Glory!
Nov. 14: “I will bring all things together in their time. All you have heard and seen will flow together. I will answer you even before you ask Me something. My spirit will flow freely in those who have prepared themselves at My coming.”
Nov. 17: Imprisonment – Waiting – Longing – How Long, but Your promise is that You will come again. So I will wait on You with faith believing the report of the Lord.
Nov. 21: To be acknowledged is to be recognized in what you say and who you are. It takes many testings for a person to come to the place they can acknowledge God in what is happening, but when you do, nothing else matters. “I, the Lord God, will acknowledge those who are Mine. Their labor of love will not be forgotten or ignored. Do not expect others to acknowledge you but know that I will not forget you.”
Nov. 27: It is well with my soul. The Lord is in battle formation. The army is prepared. She will engage the enemy and be victorious. The battle is the Lord’s and His people will fight with Him. The overcomer’s will be found and they will help many. Christ’s authority will be felt and recognized. In weakness, strength will surge and the Glory of the Lord will fill the sanctuary of holiness. “Stand and do not waver in truth and righteousness. The day will reveal My Word in your mouth!”

Giving Thanks

With the holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner, there can be an unconscious internal panic of how and what to give. As always, it is better to just give righteously year round, and to just continue giving through the festive seasons.
1Thes 5:18 (KJV) “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
One of the best descriptions of giving is the word “Gratuity.” Gratuity is giving from a grateful heart. It can be a free gift; a present; a donation; that which is given without a compensation or equivalent, or something given in return for a favor; an acknowledgment. The main time we hear about gratuity is when we are eating in a restaurant and being served by a waitress or a waiter. The expected gratuity used to always be 10%. In researching the origin of giving gratuity to waitresses and waiters, I found documentation stating that the origin was thought to have come from ancient Greek society, but proof of such had been lost. Obviously, the description of the word gratuity meaning “Giving from a grateful heart” and the amount of 10% being what God has commanded to give Him in monetary value, along with a grateful heart, are probably the greatest contribution to the origin of the 10% gratuity. A tip is different. A TIP is the acronym of the phrase: To Insure Promptness. That is not gratuity, but rather compensation for extra efforts. Amazingly, these days the standard rate for gratuity ranges widely, 15%, 18%, even 21%, and is no longer voluntary but required in many places. People get embarrassed if you don’t give your waitress or waiter what they expect, but some of those same people think it is excusable not to give God His 10%.
Psalms 50:14-15 (KJV) “Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High: (15) And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”
We don’t just give to God because of what He has already done, but also because giving to Him is part of our ongoing relationship. We give to God because we believe that He is alive and well and the most pivotal part of our lives. Our giving to God says that we care about the continuation of the things that He is formulating in the body of Christ, and in the earth.
Romans 13:7-8 (KJV) “Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute [is due]; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
(8) Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.”
Many people lose perspective concerning giving when they become deep in debt. As research show, many are saying, “We are concentrating all of our resources on paying off the debt so that we don’t have to pay interest, and after we are caught up, we will give to God.” In essence, that is borrowing (or just taking) from God. If the question ever would arise of whether or not we should borrow from God, there are questions that can be asked that will make the answer much clearer. Has the debt been occurred by unforeseeable circumstances? Or is the debt a result of poor money management and greed? If the debt is clearly a problem of financial negligence and/or financial abuse, it would be a good idea to get sound godly counseling as to avoid self-deception and attempt to deceive God. The Lord desires for His people to give to Him as an expression of their gratitude, with love and joy for Him flowing from their hearts. Giving to God releases into our lives the promises found in His word and causes us to break free from covetousness and the love of money.
Isaiah 51:3 (KJV) “For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.”

Friend For Life

Friend for life
You took my pain
The cleansing flood
Of You remains
So wash over me
Until I can’t be seen

Living Water swallow me
Deepest river wash me clean
Jesus Savior more of Thee
Jesus more of Thee
Come and ruin me with Your love
So no other is enough
And come and leave Your mark on me
Jesus more of Thee
Jesus more of Thee

Deep is the stain inside of me
But deeper the river that washes me clean
I’ve been the one who cries in the night
But You’ve been the friend of my life

So Living Water swallow me
Deepest River wash me clean
Jesus Savior more of Thee
Jesus more of Thee
Come and ruin me with Your love
So no other is enough
And come and leave your mark on me
Jesus more of Thee
Jesus more of Thee
Jesus more of Thee…

Living Word Christian Fellowship

“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving...” Psalm 26:7

Vol. 16, No. 10 October 2007

Holiness is a calling. To be holy is to be like Jesus Christ because He is holy. But do we really know what holiness is? Most Christians don’t pursue it because it takes too much effort on their part. They want Christ to do it all for them. Because of Christ’s blood that was shed they believe holiness is automatic. It is not.
In this day we are being called to holiness because a great separation is coming to the earth: the holy from the profane. Eventually the Lord will say, “Let the filthy remain filthy and to the righteous let them stay righteous and to the holy let them be holy still.” In time, the Lord will become fed up with the lukewarm wishy-washy people who can’t make up their mind how to serve and worship Him.
But for now He is calling us to holiness. There is a peculiar portion of text that God spoke to Moses. God said, “When a person comes near to Me he must show himself holy.” In the book of Hebrews we are told to come boldly to the throne of grace in time of need. That passage has bothered me at times because I don’t always feel worthy to come. But now I understand that when we come in the holiness of Christ we are accepted by the Father. Too many people try to come boldly but without holiness in their heart. No wonder they don’t get their prayers answered. No wonder people of this world don’t understand the magnificence of our Lord! YOU CANNOT APPROACH GOD ANY WAY YOU WANT. No, we aren’t under the Law of Moses. But the blood of Jesus demands holiness as well.
The next time you wonder where God went, check you level of holiness. Is it genuine? Is the blood of Christ purifying your life and are you living as one who is holy before the Lord?

In Christ,

Pr. Steve

Inner Limits

Eze. 44:15-18 (KJV) “But the priests the Levites, the sons of Zadok, that kept the charge of my sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from me, they shall come near to me to minister unto me, and they shall stand before me to offer unto me the fat and the blood, saith the Lord GOD: 16 They shall enter into my sanctuary, and they shall come near to my table, to minister unto me, and they shall keep my charge. 17 And it shall come to pass, that when they enter in at the gates of the inner court, they shall be clothed with linen garments; and no wool shall come upon them, whiles they minister in the gates of the inner court, and within. 18 They shall have linen bonnets upon their heads, and shall have linen breeches upon their loins; they shall not gird themselves with any thing that causeth sweat.”
(Rev.19:8) “And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.”
First Peter 2:9 tells us we all have the same call and privilege to minister to the Lord – it is first above all else that we seek to do. And this joy is given to the sons of Zadok – it is the joy of coming into His presence. How do we prepare ourselves to come into the inner court to minister before the Lord?
TAKE OFF THE WOOL & PUT ON THE LINEN: The wool was the standard for the outer court – the work that was bloody and messy and dirty.
When the Lord said He did not want us to “sweat” in His presence, He was speaking about our hearts. If the linen represents our righteousness, then we no longer have the guilt and condemnation of sin – we can relax before Him. Righteousness is not based on what we have done, but on our standing with Christ Jesus by faith. We have confessed our sins, we are forgiven of our sins and we are cleansed by the blood of Jesus so we can obtain the known presence of God. UNLESS WE TRULY UNDERSTAND THIS, WE WILL NOT ENTER INTO THE DEPTH OF WORSHIP THAT GOD WANTS. We will remain on the outside feeling insecure.
So we put on a heart that is quiet and a mind that is secure, allowing us to breathe in the presence of God. Psa 46:10 “Be still, and know that I [am] God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” “know” = experience (yada – to see)
We cannot know the presence of God unless our hearts are stilled before Him. Throughout our times of seeking Him, our minds are filled with garbage, condemnation, agendas, STUFF. “To take the wool off” means to get rid of the distractions. How?
1. Enter His gates with thanksgiving
2. Enter His courts with praise – speak it
3. Write down the important things that are filling your minds, then get rid of the rest. Resolve to settle your mind
4. Speak to your mind: “Be quiet”
1Pe 1:13 “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” Begin to ignore the mental interruptions, and focus on Jesus.
We are ready to submit ourselves to Him and offer ourselves as instruments of righteousness (Rom.6:13).
(Phil. 3:3) When you come to this place you can have the assurance that you are in the spirit. Begin to hear truth, comfort, life, hope, healing, and revelation. Be filled with the spirit = allow the Spirit to control your thoughts.
If we fail to do this, we walk in presumption and the flesh will win. Presumption is the greatest threat to being able to worship in Spirit & Truth.
Once we have quieted our hearts and minds we become a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is our spiritual act of worship. At the Spirit’s prompting we then can realize “We have the mind of Christ.” (1 Cor.2:16)
Remember, Jesus is seeking two kinds of people: Worshippers (Jn.4:21-23) & Intercessors (Eze.22:30). Wherever there are pray-ers and praisers, the Lords work will be released.
We must worship in Spirit & Truth – by the Spirit with integrity of heart. What the Spirit says and wants – GOES. (1 Cor. 2:11) Only the Spirit knows what the Father wants, so as a sacrifice we respond accordingly. If we always worship the same way, we are not being led by the Spirit. Sometimes we are silent, and other times we shout. So the real question is not “What do I need to do to get my need met?” But, “What kind of worship does God want from me?”
This brings us into the inner limits with God where things begin to happen.
Worship is not the end, but the means to find the intimacy with God that He desires. It does have to do with the hunger that we have and the desire that we crave. It is what brings BREAKTHROUGH. Remember, if we don’t have the presence of the glory, we go no further spiritually. But learning the inner court requirements cultivates intimacy with the Lord. It brings the embrace that draws us into His chambers. It is the fulfillment of our longing heart that cries continually, “Draw Me, Lord.”
This state is one of absolute helplessness, humility, holiness: Song 2:14 “…let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice; for sweet [is] thy voice, and thy countenance [is] comely.”
Worship is our expression of our longing and love for our Lord. [I believe the Lord is getting ready to fulfill these longings.]
Praise is a declaration of who God is, while worship is an encounter with who He is. Praise is an act of the will. Worship is the interaction of our will with the Spirit.
The experience of worship must not be more important than the God we worship. If you become too familiar with God, you won’t seek Him for His greatness. Worship becomes a moment by moment desire for His glory, a living communion with the living God.
(Ezekiel 44:18) The one area that keeps us from living a life of worship is the negative thought patterns that govern our thinking: Rom 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Mar 12:30 “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this [is] the first commandment.”
1st. Mind = nous (nooce) = the intellect of understanding
2nd. Mind = Dianoia = imagination
This is why behavior modification does not work. We try to be something and fail and our minds are filled with dread. The process of being conformed to His likeness is not a matter of willpower, but of positioning ourselves to allow the Holy Spirit to rule.
To renew our minds is to allow the Holy Spirit to speak to us and fill us with God’s Word for the time. To love the Lord with all your mind is to allow your imagination to be filled with images that reflect what God’s Word tells us. It is an exercise or a discipline that does not allow our minds to wander in the garbage pails of life.
Isa 26:3 “Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee.”
Mind = yetzer (Hebrew) = imagination
Phi 2:5 “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”
Mind =Phroneo (froneho)(Greek) = the exercise & affection of
We don’t empty our mind the way Eastern meditation suggests. We fill our minds with meditations from the Spirit & the Word. In the inner court we find the “table of shewbread” or “the bread of His presence.” To meditate means to mutter and mumble the word. Let’s do it!

I am going to be sharing with you thoughts from my journal over the past few years. This is to show you how the Lord has brought about His Word in my life to minister to you and to show you how real this walk can be. Please read and understand by the Spirit about ...

. . . My calling as a pastor

Oct. 3: “There are still too many looking for the easy road to take. This lull is because of indecisiveness. You know there is only one way – My way. Do not be deceived by what you see or don’t see, but believe what My Word tells you. The world’s way looks easy but is full of trouble and deceit, but My way is truly easy and light even though it doesn’t seem to match what you call easy. Stay focused on the spiritual things and the way will be made straight.”
Oct. 8: “The fire has come to burn away all that is not eternal. You feel empty and barren, but I will come to refill you with My life.” Vision: A growing mountain, beginning to pour out water from the throne down the mountain making a refreshing spring. The sheep are running to be refreshed. Oh the freshness of God’s presence.
Oct. 9: Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a good word lifts it up.
Oct. 13: “I am your burden bearer, lay it all on Me. I am at work.”
Oct. 16: “You see the dark thick clouds bellowing with the lightning and thunder. It is fast approaching. Do not fear. It is the coming of My Glory! The natural man will not understand, but I am releasing the power of My coming. You will carry it and be a part of My plan for this season.”
Oct. 21: “You have been faithful to me all these years, now you will see with your eyes My faithfulness to you. You will experience firsthand what I have placed in your heart and you will know Me with a new understanding.” (It’s the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!)
Oct. 28: “I want to minister to you as much as you want to minister to the flock. You stand on the bridge and watch as My people are blessed and you see those who resist Me. It is time for you to be refreshed in Me. I will meet your heavenly desire and the blessing will continue to increase as I have ministered to your spirit man. Now your soul will manifest My deliverance.”
Oct. 30: Nothing compares to the promise I have in You!
Oct. 31: “I have given you My Glory for a covering and a mantel of anointing to lead You. For I am in control and you are following My commands.”

One Narrow Road part 2

The ending of part #1 focused on the fact that the seeker-sensitive church places more emphasis on the seekers than upon the Lord Jesus Christ. To place emphasis on the pains and the natural needs of people is a set-up for the letdown that comes when a person is not willing to lose his life to find it. In other words, we must not promote a feel good God.
John 12:31-32 (KJV) “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. (32) And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all [men] unto me.”
The goal is that every life should exalt God and His Kingdom. There is judgment to be found and felt for those who deliberately oppose Christ, and there is disappointment to be gained if the focus remains upon self-felt needs.
Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV) “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: (20) Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.”
There is no language in that scripture that suggests modifying the church to draw people in. In fact, there is a point blank command of how we are to go and find the people that are to be given the opportunity to enter the Kingdom of God. Not only does the seeker-sensitive method dilute the sold out to Christ emphasis, but it also excuses people from “GOING” and doing evangelism the way it was commanded to be done. Primarily the church was always a gathering of believers, “The Body of Christ,” the local assembly of the elect, but never was it thought of as a modern day half-way house for nonreligious people.
1 Corinthians 3:6-11 (KJV) “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. (7) So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. (8) Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. (9) For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, [ye are] God's building. (10) According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. (11) For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
One of the greatest deceptions of today is that someone can come to God in any other way than what He says. The scriptures say that God must draw by tugging upon our heart and that our responsibility is to plant and water the Word of God in others. We must not attempt to modify the instructions just to please people. People in general have an inert desire for the “new thing” and the “bigger and better.” It is that desire that often causes them to swerve off their designated paths. The truth is that if a person starts off trying to enter into the Kingdom of God on the wrong road, he will probably end up on the wrong road as well.
Proverbs 22:6 (KJV) “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
The natural streets of stone, earth, and quarry we use every day are innumerable, but there is only one spiritual path that we must follow. Though we are not able to see it in the natural, the road we must travel is much like the path that God opened for His people through the Red Sea, made by God without variations. There truly is destruction on either side, but salvation and safety are found by those who will stay on the strait and narrow. So gravitate to a church where you cannot hide. Get involved in a church where you are held accountable and are taught, discipled, and seek to gain an in-depth relationship with God along with an ever growing understanding of the Word of God. Those are the things that will enable you to stay upon the straight road, as well as equip you to guide others.

Reasoning

There are two kinds of Christian believers in the world: the church attendee and the disciple. Only the disciple is a true Christian!
How many Christians of our day have forsaken all in order to follow the Lord? How many are following the Master, and bearing their personal cross? Not very many!
Ours truly is a day of intense prayer and repentance, humility and sackcloth.
The reason so many Christians are deceived today is that they do not watch and pray.

Living Word Christian Fellowship

“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving...” Psalm 26:7

Vol. 16, No. 9 September 2007

I had a dream. I was standing in the church preaching and God said, “Romans 8:9 and 10” over and over to the people. Romans tells us that we are living by the Spirit of God and not the flesh if the Holy Spirit of God really dwells in us. It is His righteousness dwelling in us.
Do you hear this, church? God wants you to know His Spirit is dwelling in you and ruling your heart and life. Don’t keep living after the flesh; it will kill you. There is enough resurrection life in you to protect and keep you in this hour. He is pleased with us at this hour. Don’t waver in your faith. Stay with Him because He is leading us into the promises that He has laid out for us and spoken over us.
It doesn’t matter what it looks like outwardly; the inward working of the life of Christ is active and alive.
What a wonderful God we serve. I needed to hear this word and I hope it will encourage you as well.
Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice!

In Christ,

Pr. Steve

Tough Calls

Psa 92:1-15 “[It is a] good [thing] to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: (2) To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, (3) Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. (4) For thou, LORD, hast made triumph in the works of thy hands. (5) O LORD, how great are thy works! [and] thy thoughts are very deep. (6) A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. (7) When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; [it is] that they shall be destroyed for ever: (8) But thou, LORD, [art most] high for evermore. (9) For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. (10) But my horn shalt thou exalt like [the horn of] an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. (11) Mine eye also shall see [my desire] on mine enemies, [and] mine ears shall hear [my desire] of the wicked that rise up against me. (12) The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. (13) Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. (14) They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; (15) To shew that the LORD [is] upright: [he is] my rock, and [there is] no unrighteousness in him.”
How do you make tough decisions? We are in a time when abuse, intimidation, and domineering people are out of control. Doesn’t the Bible say, “Love covers a multitude of sins?” (1 Pet.4:8) Many think they need to cover up abuse from others. But then the day comes when you can’t take any more. What are you going to do?
Each of us will face a time when we must stand up to those things that keep us pressed under evil. And while most (95%) of the decisions that we have to make can be made by a 10th grader, it is the other 5% that either make or break us.
Every tough decision that is ever made will still make you moan and groan over that decision. Why? Because every one of these tough calls includes 4 characteristics:
1. Each takes much energy, time and prayer. Never make a tough call in reaction or in anger. Never do it without sleeping on it. Take time to make that call. (In fact, that is what I have to do.) (Jam 1:20) “For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.” (Kingdom of God) You can’t serve God when you are resentful or angry; and if you try whatever you do is going to be wrong even if it is right. Each of these calls saps the strength out of you. If they were not tough, you wouldn’t feel stressed. There is only one thing to ask God: “HELP!” Ask as often as it takes.
2. Each demands RISKS. If there were no risks, it would not be a tough call. I am not talking about just getting out of your comfort zone. With these calls, you stand in danger of losing everything: reputation, love of those who are around you, alienation of others, what they think of you – “He’s just plain mean.” The mental torment of all of this goes on while preparing to make the tough call.
3. Each will be questioned and criticized and seldom applauded. You will often face abuse, criticism, and domineering situations; and on top of this, once you make the tough call, these negative responses increase. Some people will say how stupid you are, how uncaring and unkind. But the tough decisions have to be made.
4. Each will cost you dearly! It will cost you relationships. Good people will not understand and will back off. It may cost you financially. Today, many in leadership in churches will not make these kinds of calls because they might lose financial support. Instead, they flounder and end up with nothing eternal except a group of socialites ever learning but never coming to the knowledge of what is truth.
How do you do it? Five steps can make these tough decisions a little easier.
1. Do your homework. Research your options and the ramifications of your decisions. Seek the Holy Spirit’s direction. Then put the pros and cons in writing. Make your decisions based on the deep values that you have come to live by in Christ. Evaluate the decision with clear knowledge of all that will be affected. Having a thorough realization of the consequences will prevent you from basing the decision only on your desires.
2. Set a dead line. Don’t procrastinate. It only makes matters worse. (Don’t decide in a hurry, but be reasonable about making your decision.) Make your decision on time. Even if you don’t make a decision, you still have made a decision, but one that is weak and frail, causing consequences worse than before you began considering the possible abuse, intimidation, and domination of others. (Proverbs 9:8)
Pro 9:8 (MSG) “So don't waste your time on a scoffer; all you'll get for your pains is abuse. But if you correct those who care about life, that's different--they'll love you for it!”
3. Seek counsel from the right people. Do not seek counsel only, but seek it from the right people. Get wise and trusted counsel from those outside your inner circle. Outsiders can help you see things that you have missed. They can help you identify the bigger picture when it simply stares you in the face. {I have 3 non-resident elders, apostles that I relate to and can call at any time when I get stuck} Everyone needs to have someone from outside his immediate circle to contact about tough decisions..
4. Make your decisions on principles and values you know. Base them on who you are and what you believe. If you make them based on anything else, you will have compromised. We have to be yielded and bending towards people, but be true to ourselves. Be true to your anointing within and the way you work in your life. Don’t be partial or vindictive. Don’t allow friendships to cause you to compromise who you are. (Small people will compromise and try to overlook evil, even when it goes on and on.)
5. Understand the emotions involved in making tough calls. The strongest people will be willing to suffer over tough decisions, but still maintain their ability to make them.
This is the central essence of those who will be able to go forth in the power of the Spirit and the anointing to overcome evil in these days. Decision making is one step beyond choices. Choices are made every moment of the day without regard to others. Decisions are made throughout the day putting the other person’s value up front. We must not make decisions to hurt others, but to bring them to a place of deliverance and healing, even though the process looks like more trouble and pain. Suffering is a part of life that forces a change within us. Today we are being forced to change, either into the image of Christ or the image of Satan.
CONCLUDING COMMENTS:
1. Are tough calls worth the pain and energy? Or should we make someone else make them. Every tough call you make makes you a better person and your calling more intact. (It is painful and costly, but if you ignore it, it will cost you more in the long run.)
2. You might just be one tough call away from a breakthrough of quality. Make the tough call.
3. Do your homework, set a deadline, and seek counsel. Then make your best call based on who you are, and understand the emotions involved. And then JUST DO-IT!

Are You Committed?

part 3 of 3

We are being discipled. Good. But how many of us have a disciple? If we do not have at least one, we are too busy. (This does not include your children.)
We are not leaders if we do not have followers. Who do we spend time with? What are we talking about when we are with them? Is there a comradery for the Kingdom of God?
We should be committed to family and church groups.
Are you committed to:
Your family?
Your church?
Men to Men’s group?
Women to Women’s group?
Youth to Youth group?
Children to Children’s group?
Singles to Single’s group?
Special ministries?
Giving to needs?
Your brothers and sisters?
Parents who teach their kids based on performance have teens that feel little self worth. They feel they are loved based on what they do, not who they are.
Jer. 1:10 (NKJV) “See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant.”
If you have burdens for people, spend time with them. Jer. 1:10 calls us to root out, pull down, destroy, throw down, to build, and to plant. We can not do this alone. We must be people of integrity. This means that we should do what the word says.
Let’s go back to Matt. 7:24 through Matt. 7:27 (KJV) “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”
Being committed is like building on the rock. Nothing moves you. You are confident in who you are, and others have confidence in you.

One Narrow Road

part 1

Mat 7:13-14 (KJV) “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: (14) Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
Many definitions of, “modern day Christianity” seem to have become broad and obscure. The Holy Bible, in its original text, has not changed; but portions being taken out of context have increased immensely. That may simply be a result of people not wanting it in its original form. Like anything in the natural that needs to be solid but gets mixed, it takes only a little variation to ruin the whole batch. Therefore, if the path is already known to be narrow, we should use great caution if ever attempting to broaden the conditions for walking thereon.
Mat 23:37-39 (KJV) “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [thou] that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under [her] wings, and ye would not! (38) Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. (39) For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord.”
People have always had a problem with the untainted word of God. Think about it, everyone loved following Christ when He was healing and feeding them and casting demons out of them; but when He would stop and teach them, the crowd would usually diminish until there were only twelve. At some point even the twelve were noted as saying, “This is a hard saying, who can abide in it.” Jesus knew that there would not be many that would follow, but He was not impressed by numbers and notoriety. Jesus gave more notice to the conversions such people as Mary Magdalene and Zacheus the tax collector, along with the difference that their faith and repentance made in the way they lived. Why? Because it is God’s living word, and the difference that it makes when applied to our lives that is needed.
Many churches that have diminished in membership and attendance numbers have been influenced to turn to this modern age of new technological strategies, and philosophical approaches for drawing in new people. They have been labeled, “Seeker-Sensitive Churches.” Rather than emphasizing the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, the emphasis of these churches has shifted to meeting the needs of the people. Those who attend will no longer view themselves as sinners that need to be saved, but rather as seekers that come from broken and messed up families, the lonely and single, or victims of society. The messages are mostly formulated to appeal to natural needs of the seekers instead of encouraging a love for God and a walk of obedience to His Word. The main pitfall is that the focus of the seeker-sensitive church is too often on the seeker rather than upon God.

AUGUST NEWSLETTER 2007

Living Word Christian Fellowship

“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving...” Psalm 26:7

Vol. 16, No. 8 August 2007

Pro 14:12 “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof [are] the ways of death.” (Proverbs 16:25)
The watchword for today is “careful.” Please be careful how you are living and handling life in general. This is a day of deception and dread for multitudes. But for the children of God it is a day to press-on into Christ no matter what we experience. Sometimes we are hurting so badly we make mistakes that affect others, but that cannot stop us from pressing in to the Lord’s voice and direction. He is leading us and guiding us into all truth. And truth is the only thing that will give us the freedom we need to live. You won’t find truth any place except in Christ Jesus. The attacks of the enemy want you to believe lies that bring you no relief. Truth always brings relief. The problem is that God opens the door of our prison cell, but we don’t want to believe His Word or His Way; so we sit imprisoned in our open cells, afraid to go free.
Take the Word of Truth and devour it. It won’t make you sick; it might just heal you and give you all the freedom you desperately long for. Make a concerted effort. Remember, freedom isn’t free. It will cost you everything, but there is nothing like it. And oh, the joy and peace that fills your innermost being sets you in a place that is higher than any other you have ever known.
The heavenly places on earth are genuine and real. Many have given up on the truth, but I won’t, I have experienced true freedom and I want it more than life itself. My freedom is Jesus Christ. He is my all in all.

In Christ,

Pr. Steve

What People Need

Phil.4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
In order for the body of Christ to grow today, people must know their needs will be met. Generally speaking, this subject is the greatest concern of the body. How are we as believers going to work with the Spirit to help meet people’s needs? The solution begins with a spirit of compassion, courage, skill and perception. Compassion is the character of Christ. Courage is the outward working of an inward mindset that is free from the fear of failure. Skill and perception must be learned and experienced.
Perception is developed by understanding the basic needs of every individual living: Biblically speaking, only God can meet the needs of an individual (text). So we must be rooted and grounded in the life of Christ because God is going to meet the needs of people through His body.
ACCEPTANCE – “I am” - everyone needs to be accepted – this is the need to be loved for who I am, not who I might be. Love = agape, not phileo or eros. Three basic elements of agape love include:
Being acknowledged as a person – I acknowledge you as a person
Being cared about – I allow you to make decisions, right or wrong
Being esteemed as an “I” – cherished, valued {Everyone has this need of acceptance – it is a basic human requirement of life.}
How do you meet this need of acceptance? You do it by affirming people, letting them know by what you say you value them. Pursue people in what they are about. {Today, people are standoffish, they want to do their own thing without others involved,. They wish to be alone and don’t want to be bothered with the needs of others. The church cannot do this and still be a part of the Church. We need one another’s acceptance.}
SECURITY – “I belong” Everyone needs to be around a safe environment to feel secure.
How do you meet this need of security? First, the church must be a family, not an institution. If we are a family, then we are brothers and sisters. This may be old school, but the Bible calls the brethren “brother or sister.” This is not old fashioned. It gives the sense of family. (You don’t have to use it if you can find another way. I don’t want just a vogue word for the sake of terminology) Second, there must be a sense of faithfulness. Once again society has removed this trait from families. But God’s family is faithful one to another. Faithfulness is relationship. If you are to help meet the needs of other people, then you must be dependable.
IDENTITY – “I matter” [I am, I belong, & I matter.] Each person needs to be recognized for his unique giftings, abilities and standing with God.
How do you meet this need of Identity? Encouragement – to express his giftings and allow room for mistakes. Communicate others’ worth and value in what they do. Exhort them so they are lifted up. Tell them they are good in what they do.
PURPOSE – “I can”. Each person needs to know he has an important reason for existing and living.
How do you meet this need? Create opportunities for others to be a part with you. They don’t have to accept, but they do need to know they are welcome to participate in what you are doing. {I was never athletic, so I was never picked to be a part of the team.} I was excluded because of competition, not because of purpose. We will miss much in life if we don’t include others in what we do and in not giving them a chance to explore their purpose. If you think about the times you were rejected, what potential has been lost? Remember, the church is a body. If one person is not participating, then that part of the body is dying or lost, thus bringing disease to the body. All parts of the body must be operating to be made whole.
Acceptance – Security – Identity - Purpose
A.S.I.P. – “A sip of grace everyday” because “I am - I belong - I matter – and - I can.”
If we understand the four basic needs of people, then we will have healthy relationships one with another. In order for us to have a strong relationship with the Father, we must have a healthy relationship with each other. In relationship we find the development of authority. People want to have authority, but authority, though basic to Christian’s walk, does not exit outside of relationship one with another. You must have authority today to overcome the obstacles of life; otherwise, you will be stepped on over and over again and finally crushed. Outside of healthy relationships there is no authority. No matter what you try to do it is not genuine authority. If you don’t want to pay the price of relationship, then don’t try to exercise authority. All authority is limited. Don’t try to exercise authority outside of your relationships.
In order to help meet other people’s need, remain a servant. Those who have servant hearts will be able to facilitate the concerns of others and be ready to step in and offer assistance. When we try to help others but point to ourselves in assisting, people get offended. Remember to keep the focus on Christ. “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Phi 4:19) Our assistance must always point to Jesus as we recognize Jesus in all that we do to help meet other people’s need. The problem exists when we feel important because we help others, as if we are their source. You will never truly help another individual unless it is pointing to Jesus. He is the only one who can supply all you need. If help comes from you and your effort, people will tend to depend on you – and you will fail at some time or the other – the Lord doesn’t fail people. The Lord never gives one person enough to meet all the needs of others – it takes all of us. NEVER brag about your accomplishments in helping others. Today, churches advertise all they do to help others, but when they point to themselves instead of to the Lord, the help is not of Him. It points to you
The needs of people will increase greatly in the days ahead. Only the Lord through His people will be able to meet all the needs. People must find their help in and through the Lord working through people who are led by the Spirit of God who are not looking for a pat on the back. They are simply led with compassion, courage, skill and perception.
On the other hand, you may feel inadequate to help other people; but Paul says, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” So when a need arises, be willing to be used to help meet the need.
Be sensitive. These days are crucial. People don’t always know what they need. Don’t presume to understand if you don’t. ASK before you decide what to do. Get a better understanding. Too many are wasting their time offering handouts, and that is not what people need. Choose your words wisely by the Spirit so you can help with an eternal perspective instead of a natural one. One who is truly sensitive will be able to make a lasting impact on the lives others.
Be able to discern those who want help right now verses those who need help. God is never in a hurry to help. (Have you noticed?) People will wear you out by demanding of you “right now.” A true need can be thoroughly reviewed and followed through properly. When a need is real, don’t withhold in order to accommodate yourself. Be willing to change your agenda if the need is true and valid.
Proverbs 3:27 (KJV) “Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.” Don’t say, go and come back tomorrow when it is in your power today to help.
It will take maturity to reach out and truly help other people today. It will take a determination to say, I am willing to help others when the need arises. But it is a process that starts where you are today with what you have. LONG TERM INVESTMENTS ARE WHAT PAY OFF, not short term reserves (“Well, I feel like helping someone today”). Long terms begin with what we have and then increasing a little at a time, thereby producing maturity and ultimately enabling us to help others.
If you care more about people than you do results, you will be used to help meet the needs of others. And Jesus Christ will be honored according to His richness in glory. Those who are willing to reach out to help others will ultimately become leaders in the Kingdom of God. Our purpose during the millennium will be to help others. Nations will come to the Saints that are made ready to help through the greatest days of earth.
Are you willing?

I am going to be sharing with you thoughts from my journal over the past few years. This is to show you how the Lord has brought about His Word in my life to minister to you and to show you how real this walk can be. Please read and understand by the Spirit about ...

. . . My calling as a pastor

Pastor’s Journal 2006
Aug. 3: The weapon for the battle with the city was trust. I clearly heard the Lord say, “unfavorable and favorable.” Trust was all I was to do, because it was clear I wanted to do more than trust. Now I understand, to suffer wrong rather than be wrong. The Lord is gracious. Trust is a tremendous weapon.
Aug. 15: The past two days were the worst of all. Trouble, oppression, nothing working right, but God! You never failed to tell me or encourage me. You brought us through. Many still do not understand the battle or the experience of the battle. “Why,” they ask? Because, You are Lord and You know what we must learn to serve You better. It’s almost over and I am still breathing.
Aug. 17: “For the Lord is great.” His promise is for victory tomorrow, overcoming victory with no defeat!
Aug. 19: The victory is in my spirit, but the natural is in much pain. The battle keeps intensifying, but I will believe the Word of the Lord. God is teaching me something far greater then I can understand. I can see clearly with all the confusion around us that the enemy is fighting hard to stop the opening of Richmond Academy. You have said “Nothing can stop the building.” O God, arise and let Your enemies be scattered.
Aug. 23: For You, Lord, bless the righteous. You surround him with favor like a shield.
Aug. 24: Even when the battle is won it doesn’t feel like it because there is another battle raging. Nothing could stop Your plan and purpose, O God, but all the irritation makes it seem futile. Please be glorified in Your work so that the will of God is perfected in us. Whether or not I accomplish any success I am justified with God because Christ rules my heart. Anything less comes in the way of my relationship with Him.
Aug. 25: “For the next year, put into practice all you have learned of Me.”
Aug. 29: “The battles intensify but you are prepared. I am fighting for you. The battle rages within but I am come to give you peace and contentment in Me. My Word is in you. Don’t get ahead of Me and it will be clear. Have confidence in the Spirit of Christ that rules your heart and soul and fills your being with eternal life.”

Real Life

Gen 3:6-7 (KJV) “And when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. (7) And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they [were] naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.”
Is it the same test for each of us as it was for Adam and Eve? Will we choose the things that we desire, the things that taste good, the things we like to look at, the things that make one smart, instead of choosing the things that will cause us to fulfill the will of God for our lives in the earth? Can we Christians admit that we may still have some love of this world in our hearts? In the following example of Saul’s conversion to Paul, we have to see the contrast in a man who thought that he was serving God with all of his heart, had studied the word of God his whole life, but still did not recognize the Lord incarnate, and even sought to destroy Him.
Act 26:12-18 (MSG) “One day on my way to Damascus, armed as always with papers from the high priests authorizing my action,
(13) right in the middle of the day a blaze of light, light outshining the sun, poured out of the sky on me and my companions. Oh, King, it was so bright! (14) We fell flat on our faces. Then I heard a voice in Hebrew: 'Saul, Saul, why are you out to get me? Why do you insist on going against the grain?' (15) "I said, 'Who are you, Master?' "The voice answered, 'I am Jesus, the One you're hunting down like an animal. (16) But now, up on your feet--I have a job for you. I've handpicked you to be a servant and witness to what's happened today, and to what I am going to show you. (17) "'I'm sending you off (18) to open the eyes of the outsiders so they can see the difference between dark and light, and choose light, see the difference between Satan and God, and choose God. I'm sending you off to present my offer of sins forgiven, and a place in the family, inviting them into the company of those who begin real living by believing in me.”
The whole issue here is the difference between religion and relationship. Did Adam and Eve fall because they believed the issue to simply a “do” or a “don’t”? Was their relationship with the Lord in the garden not developed enough to trust Him instead of the serpent? How was it that Saul (Paul) did not have any idea that Jesus Christ was the Son of God? The big question is: Do we as Christians have a solid personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Do we walk with Him and talk with Him and tell Him that we belong to Him? Or do we rather seek to fulfill a quota of religious activities that cause us to surmise that we are ok in God’s eyes? Beware getting caught up in the quagmire of philosophies that make life seem general and non-specific. God has a purpose and a plan for everything, and everyone that He creates. First He reveals Himself to those that will call upon His name. Then He leads us out of darkness into the ways of eternal life. And then He wants us to share Him with others.
Act 26:17-18 (MSG) “I'm sending you off (18) to open the eyes of the outsiders so they can see the difference between dark and light, and choose light, see the difference between Satan and God, and choose God. I'm sending you off to present my offer of sins forgiven, and a place in the family, inviting them into the company of those who begin real living by believing in me.”

Are You Committed? part 2 of 3

Isa. 48:10 (KJV) “Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.”
The church goes through some rough times. God is calling us, the righteous, in the rough times to come through the rough times.
Yet all outward difficulties would be as nothing, were it not for lusts and corruptions within. These cause the worst troubles.
1 John 3:7 through 1 John 3:10 (KJV) “Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.”
Are we committed to God? We know by what we commit. Do we commit sin? Do we commit acts of selfishness? Or do we commit acts of service to the Lord?
The only way to keep the soul well is to commit it to God by prayer and patient perseverance in well-doing.
Psa. 37:5 (KJV) “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
Prov. 16:3 (KJV) “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
When we are committed to God’s work, He wills upon us true riches!
Luke 16:9 through Luke 16:12 (KJV) “And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.
10He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. 11If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?”
2 Tim. 2:2 (KJV) “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”

Shipwreck

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island.

He prayed feverishly for GOD to rescue him, and everyday he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.

Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect himself from the elements and to store his few possessions.

One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames with smoke rolling up to the sky.

The worst had happened! Everything was lost!

He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger.

"GOD, how could you do this to me?" he cried.

Early the next day he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to
rescue him.

"How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.

Moral of the story:

It's easy to get discouraged when things are going badly, but we shouldn't lose heart, because GOD is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain, and suffering.

Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the ground. It just may be a smoke
signal that summons the grace of GOD.
